At Robyn’s Rocket we believe that :

  1. acess is never done it’s something we all must keep working on improvising.

  2. Access is not about making a perfect event or venue, because there is no such thing, people can have conflicting needs , there are practical and financial limits on what a event or venue can do, and most venues are not 100% accessible to 100% of people all the time. Access is about making a event or venue accessible to as many people as possible.

3.Access is not just about disabled people being able to access a event , venue or anything e else, it’s about anyone who experiences a barrier being able to access a event, venue or anything else.

4. Many barriers are invisible to most people. For example you can’t see how many people would come to your event if you published a timetable.

timetables can help people who

  • need to get the last train ( and don’t want to miss a band playing, so they can make a choice about if they can come to the gig or not).

  • have caring responsibilities and need to say when they’ll be back ( but still want to see tehir favourite band) .

  • People who feel anxious if they don’t know what will happen when .

  • access does not have to be expensive,

5.access must be tailored as much as possible for the people who need it, not just the people who you guess need it.For examplenot everyone who is deaf use BSL ( british sign lanaguge), so evan though you may have people in the audiance who are deaf BSL may not make your event more accessible.

6.There will always be limits to what one organisation or person can do, and that is ok,for example when installing a lift, the building will have physical limitations as to how wide the lift can be, these physical limitations may not be flexiable, due to

  • the age of the building

  • the way the building is made

  • how much money is avaliable .

but it would be better to have a lift rather then no lift, because it increases access for more people .

7 Access does not have to cost loads of money, many access tools are cheap, for example you could lend out ear defenders at your event or venue, they can be bought from tool station. , screwfix, B&Q etc for under £10.

we can charge by the hour + travel in london

we charge full day and half day fees + travel and accommodation outside of london.
